Thoughts

From the beginning I loved Ma Kemah’s character.  She was one you rooted for not because so many terrible things have happened in her life, but because she is so likeable.  When she left Liberia for the United States I knew it was going to be an adventure, and I was right!

Ma Kemah unknowingly makes friends with baseball star Warren McAllister at the airport, and is in for a crash course on how awfully invasive social media can be.  Warren is about to engaged to Amanda who is one of those characters you love to hate, and then we meet her mother and I that is the only time I sympathized with her.   Now Warren is caught in the crossfires of the stranger he met in the airport and his fiancée.  Which one will he choose?

I couldn’t have read this book at a more perfect time because I was heading for slump nation.  This story lifted me out of it.  Of course I wanted Warren to drop Amanda like yesterday’s news and be with Ma Kemah!  Like I said she is a character it’s hard not to root for.   I also loved her aunt and cousins that she stayed with in Massachusetts.  Ok so the only characters I didn’t like were Amanda and her family.

Trust me when I say you need this book in your life.  Thank you to Author Sianah Nalika DeShield for sending this one my way!  Run for your copy on May 14th!
