My Mini Thoughts
From the start the idea of The Herd was intriguing to me! The friendships formed, the mentoring from other professionals, the eliteness of getting in. Eleanors college dream turned reality, and she brought her friends Hana and Mikki along for the ride. Hana’s little sister Katie shows up after an incident in Michigan.
Unfortunately Eleanor disappears before she can make the announcement that the company is rising to a whole new level. In this story someone would kill to keep The Herd from making more money than any of them had ever imagined.
I have to admit when Eleanor disappears, and you know it happens by reading the synopsis, it was much earlier in the book I would have guessed it to be. So what now? We just spend these next few hundred pages reading about everyone’s assumptions?! No thanks! Thankfully we’re quick to suspect that everyone is hiding something. The secret looks they think nobody else notices, keeping each other in the dark, and taking items from Eleanors apartment. Slowly we get a glimpse into Eleanor’s past and the suspect list gets bigger.
This was my first book by this author, and it won’t be my last. I kept turning the pages to find out what really happened in the girl’s past, and it was juicy. Not as juicy as those last few pages though! This one is available now.
Book Rating: 4/5
For the grand finale this would pair nicely with a Rosé All Day 2017.
The name of the elite, women-only coworking space stretches across the wall behind the check-in desk: THE HERD, the H-E-R always in purple. In-the-know New Yorkers crawl over each other to apply for membership to this community that prides itself on mentorship and empowerment. Among the hopefuls is Katie Bradley, who’s just returned from the Midwest after a stint of book research blew up in her face. Luckily, Katie has an in, thanks to her sister Hana, an original Herder and the best friend of Eleanor Walsh, its charismatic founder.
As head of PR, Hana is working around the clock in preparation for a huge announcement from Eleanor—one that would change the trajectory of The Herd forever.
Then, on the night of the glitzy Herd news conference, Eleanor vanishes without a trace. Everybody has a theory about what made Eleanor run, but when the police suggest foul play, everyone is a suspect.
