This was such an intense read! Twin sisters Fern and Rose had a tumultuous upbringing.  They were homeless when they were young, but that didn’t register with Fern like it did with Rose.  Their mom also had a few boyfriends, and one of them had a son around the girls age.  They all go camping together and everyone is getting along great, until Fern gets herself into trouble.  Only the sisters know what really happened during the trip, and they are not talking.  Years later Rose is married and trying to get pregnant with no success.  Fern just happens to notice her struggles so she plans to have a baby for her since Rose has kept her secret all these years, but Rose has some terrible secrets of her own that Fern will find out the hard way.

I loved how the chapters alternate between Rose, Fern, and Rose’s diary entries.  I think different POV’s can either make or break a story, and they made this one!   There were so many twists and turns, and some of the twists you could easily figure out, but that did not make the book any less enjoyable.  Fern is such an easy character to root for especially as she starts to understand Rose’s intentions more and more.  I also enjoyed the romance between Fern and Rocco/Wally.  It was a nice break in the twists.
